FAQ

Why is our base so unique?

Our base recipe is a proprietary recipe. Carefully formulated with wellness in mind. We searched high and low for the cleanest ingredients we can find for our non-dairy base:

Our milk alternative is made from organic whole grain oat which is believed to help lower LDL cholesterol and also reduce the risk of heart disease.

Instead of heavy cream, we use 2 oils to add fats to our base which helps gives that great mouth feel. Organic unrefined virgin coconut oil (VCO) is pure, cold-pressed coconut oil that has not been refined or has been minimally processed. Unlike coconut oil, the unrefined version is not bleached or deodorized and is non-hydrogenated, meaning this coconut oil did not undergo the chemical process of adding hydrogen. VCO may be richer in benefits than ordinary coconut oil and higher in antioxidants, which is practically nil in ordinary coconut oil.

High oleic sunflower oil is high in monounsaturated fat, a minimum of 80% oleic acid vs traditional sunflower oil, which is also called linoleic sunflower oil, with only 20% oleic acid and 68% linoleic acid. It has a significant amount of monounsaturated omega-9 fatty acids, which is what “high-oleic” means. Monounsaturated fat (oleic acid) is one of the two “healthy” fats, along with polyunsaturated fat (linoleic acid). Monounsaturated fat can help lower LDL (bad) cholesterol.

To sweeten our desserts we use organic cane sugar which is exclusively made from sugarcane and less processed than granulated sugar.  Many traditional dairy ice cream recipes also use dextrose, a highly processed simple sugar derived from corn and non-gmo corn is hard to come by these days so we have replaced this key ingredient with tapioca syrup, a natural sweetener made from the plant, cassava root.

Using inulin allows us to reduce fat & sugar content within our recipe without compromising the creamy texture. Our organic inulin derived from agave reduces the hardness of our low-fat ice cream, produces a smoother and creamier texture, increases air incorporation and melting resistance.

And lastly, instead of using traditional man-made stabilizer such a monodyglyerides, we use a blend of organic guar gum and organic locust bean gum. Both derived from plants.

Enjoy our guilt-free recipe!

There is a $60 minimum for all orders, that’s 4 pints. We offer 4-pint collection sets or you can choose your own 4 flavors.

Can you make changes to your order?

We will do our best to accommodate any changes, but we do not make any guarantees. Once an order has been shipped, the sale is final.

When do we ship?

We only ship orders on Monday’s, Tuesday’s and Wednesday’s via UPS ground within CA and Fedex overnight for other states. Below is our schedule:

·       Monday orders will ship on Tuesdays

·       Tuesday orders will ship on Wednesdays

·       Wednesday orders will ship on Thursdays

·       Thursday-Sunday orders will ship on Mondays

·       Shipping schedule subject to change due to inventory (we make it as fresh), holidays and incremental weather

How do we ship?

We ship our frozen desserts with sustainable insulated boxes packed with dry ice. Please note that dry is very cold (-109.3F, -78.5C), so handle with gloves and not bare hands. Remove the dry ice and leave outside overnight until all dissolved.

What is the cost of shipping?

Cost of dry ice, special packaging and couriers are costly these days and being a new, small brand, we don’t get the volume advantages…yet! We don’t make any margins on shipping costs and as we grow and receive volume discounts from vendors, we will surely pass them onto our customers.  For now here are the cost to ship a 4 pint order:

California, $25

Other states, $50

Do you need to be home to receive your order?

We ship with signature release, so you do not have to be home, but we advise to put your order into your freezer as soon as possible.

Do we accept returns?

All sales are final. We do not accept any returns.

If your order does arrive melted, send us the order number and quick pics of your melted ice cream.  We will ship a replacement order or process a refund.
